in January I found these adorbs plates. I just had to buy them. I stashed and waited..till now.
in the early 1900s it was commonplace to purchase blank dinnerware sets from companies that produced porcelain dishes. the most famous "china house" that did this was Limoges, in France. these are a hard paste porcelain from Japan. not as fine and translucent as Limoges but equally as charming.
handpainted and monogrammed D in 22k gold, these were proudly signed and dated on the bottom. as you will see Irene m. Devlin painstakingly painted these in 1922.
I managed to unearth 5 of these plates.
ive wrapped two of my soap bars {my choice} & a handmade washcloth on top of these charming plates with antique French seam binding {a beautiful memento of the past on its own}
I love this gift set ive created, I hope you do too.
